Beginning as a classically trained pastry chef, Candace transitioned into the captivating world of food styling and prop design for the silver screen. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the film industry, a deep-seated passion for plants took root. What began as a mission to rescue neglected movie set greenery, blossomed into a full-fledged commitment to the art of horticulture.

The pivotal moment occurred during a transformative visit to Miami in 2019. The vibrant flora of the region sparked a profound interest, leading Candace to expand her expertise from indoor to outdoor plants. Delving into the world of pollinator gardens and butterfly conservation, a career change was on the horizon – a plot twist worth noting.

Navigating burnout in the film industry, Candace found herself at a crossroads during a writers and actors strike. An opportunity arose at Liminal Space Collective, a brilliant friend proposed a game-changing idea: "Why not open a plant store?" Genius, indeed. But they didn't stop there – the decision was made to transform it into a plant haven masquerading as a video rental store. Thus, Pollen8 was born!
